Reno Omokri, a socio-political activist, expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is now certain, following the ousting of Abba Yusuf as Kano State governor.
Earlier on Friday, it was reported that the Appeal Court ruled Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State wasn’t a member of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) during the elections. Yusuf had won under the NNPP, but the court upheld the governorship election tribunal’s decision, disqualifying him from contesting.
The judges emphasized the tribunal’s error in not disqualifying Governor Yusuf initially.
Omokri remarked, “The removal of Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano by the Court of Appeals has made Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 more certain.”
He elaborated, pointing out Kano’s significant number of registered voters, likely contributing around two million votes to presidential candidates in 2027. Omokri noted the influence of the governor in directing these votes.
He advised the NNPP and Labour Party to consider merging with the PDP, as suggested by Waziri Atiku, to bolster their chances. Omokri highlighted that failure to merge might result in Tinubu’s resurgence, emphasizing the logic behind this conclusion, though he lamented the scarcity of common sense in Nigerian politics.
