Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State and Vice Chairman of the State Executive Council, is currently presiding over the state executive council meeting in Akure, the state capital.
This meeting follows months of political tension between the deputy governor and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s loyalists.
It’s worth noting that President Bola Tinubu convened a peace meeting in Abuja last week, bringing together the conflicting factions.
This recent development signals a potential resolution to the prolonged political discord between Aiyedatiwa and Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. The ongoing conflict had raised concerns as it posed a threat to the smooth functioning of the state administration.
Before the meeting commenced, an unnamed high-ranking cabinet member expressed, “The executive council, under Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, represents a significant step toward restoring harmony not only within the cabinet but throughout the entire state. Tinubu’s intervention worked wonders, and I believe we are now united in prioritizing the state’s development over unnecessary internal conflicts.”
As of the current press time, details of the meeting agenda remain undisclosed.
Aiyedatiwa had been grappling with impeachment proceedings, leading him to leave the state in a defensive battle against the alleged plot.
