The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has discredited a viral video suggesting that he is withdrawing from the upcoming Saturday’s election.
Anyanwu dismissed the viral video, asserting that it had been edited to manipulate and deceive the electorate in the state. In a statement released on Friday by the Director of his campaign council, Dumebi Ifeanyichukwu, Anyanwu urged the people of the state to disregard the video.
He attributed the fake video to mischief makers and emphasized that the information it conveyed was categorically false. The statement explained, “After a thorough examination of the video, it became evident that it was heavily edited with manipulated audio to mislead the public.”
Anyanwu is set to compete against the incumbent governor, Hope Uzodinma, in a closely contested governorship election on Saturday. Despite the circulated video, the PDP candidate remains optimistic about his chances and has expressed determination to challenge Uzodinma for the position.
