The former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, disclosed his primary regret during his tenure while speaking at a Special Thanksgiving/Welcome Service organized by the United Evangelical Church, Lagos Township Superintendency. According to a statement from the Government House in Uyo, he expressed regret for not having control over policies despite his administration’s accomplishments.
Udom Emmanuel reflected on his close call during the tragic Reigners Bible Church building collapse in 2016, crediting his survival to a mysterious intervention by God. He emphasized leaving the government intact and unharmed, thanking God for guidance throughout his term.
Acknowledging spiritual challenges faced by governors, he affirmed his unwavering faith in God’s guidance. He also credited divine intervention for the success of the state’s gubernatorial election and shared poignant moments, including the symbolic significance of the first Ibom Air Airbus from Mirabel in Canada.
Additionally, Udom revealed insights into the creation of Ibom Air’s logo, highlighting the contribution made by Captain Mfon Udom’s daughter. He recounted the 2019 election threats and blackmail attempts, crediting God for his unscathed journey through the polls.
Expressing gratitude to stakeholders for their unwavering support, he emphasized the importance of individual choices in the democratic process. Governor Umo Eno praised Udom Emmanuel and his wife, Dr. Martha Emmanuel, considering them divine gifts to Akwa Ibom and acknowledging their significant contributions to the state’s development. He conveyed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the people of Akwa Ibom.
