The candidate representing the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the upcoming governorship election on November 11th, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, has expressed his commitment to uniting the people of Kogi State and bringing substantial development to the region. This declaration was made during the APC governorship campaign rally in Lokoja, the state capital, on Sunday.
Alhaji Ododo, emphasizing that Kogi State belongs to the APC, urged the electorate to turn out in large numbers on election day and cast their votes in his favor, along with his running mate, Joel Oyibo, to facilitate the much-needed development.
He asserted that Kogi should not fall into the hands of self-serving individuals who are attempting to divide the state along ethnic lines. His campaign’s core themes revolve around sustainable human capital development, empowering the youth, and enhancing fundamental infrastructure throughout the state.
Alhaji Ododo expressed his appreciation to his mentor, the incumbent governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for giving young people a sense of inclusion. He predicted that Kogi State would experience rapid development and improved security if the ruling party retains power in November. He also pledged to deliver on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, vowing not to disappoint the people of the state if elected.
During the rally, Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, called on Kogi State residents to vote for the APC to ensure they are not left behind. He disclosed that the Federal Government is collaborating with foreign companies to revitalize the Ajaokuta steel company. Furthermore, he mentioned that the Federal Government is actively working on plans to dredge the River Niger, a move aimed at attracting significant development to Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole.
The national chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, commended the present administration for its positive impact on the people of Kogi State. He stressed the importance of consolidation, continuity, and sustainability, emphasizing the need for a youthful leader who will build upon Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s achievements. He urged the people of Kogi to vote for a candidate who will foster unity in the state and ensure grassroots development.
