Governor Ademola Adeleke has granted approval for the inclusion of all pensioners in Osun State into the Health Insurance Scheme. The Executive Secretary of the Osun Health Insurance Scheme, Dr. Rasak Akindele, made this announcement to the press following a meeting with accredited healthcare providers at the state secretariat on Thursday.
Dr. Akindele highlighted that Governor Adeleke has issued a directive for the immediate enrollment of the entire 19,000 pensioners into the state’s health insurance scheme. He emphasized, “The governor has instructed us to enroll all the pensioners in the state in the scheme. They turned out in significant numbers to vote during the election, and it’s only fair to provide them with this benefit. It’s not merely compensation; it’s their entitlement as they deserve access to good healthcare in their later years after serving the state for an extended period.”
Furthermore, Dr. Akindele added that the governor plans to present identity cards to the pensioners as part of his first-year anniversary celebration. He also assured that healthcare facilities are available across Osun State to cater to the needs of the 19,000 beneficiaries.
Regarding the outcomes of the meeting with healthcare providers, Dr. Akindele stressed the importance of gathering feedback from them. This feedback will help identify any challenges they might be facing and find collaborative solutions. He stated, “Understanding the issues will enable us to work together in resolving them. If there are any violations later on, appropriate actions can be taken in accordance with the law.
