Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has provided an explanation for his decision to operate from his residence rather than the state government house. He cited his intention to manage the cost of governance as the primary reason for this choice.
Governor Otti made this statement during a visit from the global leadership of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, led by Pastor Ted Wilson, who came to commemorate the church’s centenary anniversary.
In Otti’s words, “Effective governance begins with the prudent management of the cost of governing. If one is not cautious, the limited resources available may end up being consumed by the administration itself rather than being used to serve the people.
“When we assumed office in May, we realized that a significant amount of funds would be required for the renovation of the Governor’s Office. Fortunately, we have suitable facilities here at my residence, which allows us to work from here.
“We will persist with this arrangement until we have addressed many of the pressing issues, including healthcare, education, infrastructural decay, especially in Aba, and other challenges that are currently impacting the state.”
Otti emphasized that once these pressing issues have been effectively tackled and there is some flexibility in the budget, then they will focus on renovating the Governor’s Office, as it is currently not a top priority.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to positively impacting the lives of the people of Abia State, Otti mentioned that the government has initiated a multitude of infrastructure projects across the entire state, with the aim of improving the well-being of the populace and promoting balanced development in every region of Abia.
