Comedian Ayo Makun, also recognized as AY, has issued an apology to Afrobeats artist Davido for his poorly delivered joke.
AY recently faced criticism after a video circulated on social media showing him making a jest at Davido during a live performance in Warri. In the video, AY used Davido as the subject of his joke, mentioning the singer’s multiple baby mamas.
During the performance, the comedian instructed the DJ not to play Davido’s song ‘Unavailable’ when introducing him, questioning how someone who is “unavailable” could father children.
In response to the backlash stemming from the joke, AY posted an apology on his official Instagram page on Sunday. He stated, “I sincerely apologize for the way that joke came out in Warri. It shouldn’t even be called a joke anymore. It wasn’t funny, unlike my performances during my tour of Canada and the US, and you have every right to be upset after how it was exploited by the blogs.”
He went on to acknowledge that the incident serves as a learning experience for everyone in the entertainment industry and accepted any criticism he receives for the poorly delivered joke. He reassured Davido of his unwavering support and affection, concluding with, “I remain your number one fan, and I love you, @davido.”
