In a recent statement released by the family of actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, it was revealed that one of his legs had to be amputated to save his life. In October, news had emerged about the actor’s illness, prompting the need for financial assistance to cover his medical treatment.
The statement, which was posted on the actor’s Instagram page on Monday, disclosed that Mr. Ibu had undergone a total of seven successful surgeries, one of which involved the amputation of his leg, all in an effort to ensure his survival.
The statement conveyed their gratitude to all those who had offered assistance and support, acknowledging that the help received had been overwhelming. The family emphasized that they could not thank everyone enough for the generosity shown.
The statement explained, “As of 1 pm today, Daddy has undergone 7 successful surgeries, but to preserve his life and improve his chances of recovery, one of his legs had to be amputated. While this has been a difficult development for all of us, we have had to accept it as Daddy’s new reality in order to sustain his life.”
The family also appealed for ongoing support from compassionate Nigerians, as Mr. Ibu remains in a delicate state and still requires all the help he can receive.
They concluded with a message of appreciation, assuring that once Mr. Ibu’s condition stabilizes, he would personally acknowledge and express gratitude to all those who supported him during this challenging period.
