Anthony Taylor, the English referee, has faced a demotion to the English Championship due to his questionable decision-making.
Taylor was notably involved in the Europa League final where Roma was denied a penalty for a clear handball by a Sevilla player. This incident, along with various complaints throughout the season, culminated in his poor performance in the recent Wolves vs. Newcastle game.
During that match, Taylor controversially awarded Newcastle a penalty against Hee-Chan Hwang in their 2-2 draw, leading to his reassignment as the referee for Preston’s upcoming game against Coventry in the Championship this Saturday.
The English Football Association, after assessing Anthony Taylor’s performance, made the decision to relegate him to the Championship, which is England’s second division. In this capacity, he will officiate the match between Preston North End and Coventry City.
