The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has pulled out from the Federation of Registered Nollywood Guilds and Associations (FRENGAN). AGN’s National President, Emeka Rollas, conveyed this decision in a letter directed to the leadership of FREGAN on Monday.
The letter mentioned, “After a thorough consideration of the feedback and recommendations provided by our members and stakeholders regarding AGN’s involvement with FREGAN, the National Executive Council has, with regret, decided to withdraw AGN’s membership from the organization.”
This withdrawal aims to allow the Executive Council to concentrate on the advancement, growth, and welfare of AGN members. AGN presently functions as service contractors, which means they lack labor protection and access to social security.
Recognizing the collaborative nature of filmmaking, the letter affirmed the AGN’s commitment to promoting healthy and constructive industrial relationships among all the various guilds and associations. FRENGAN serves as the overarching organization encompassing all registered guilds in Nigeria’s film industry.
