The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of providing false information regarding his whereabouts, challenging the validity of statements made by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, regarding Adeleke’s supposed working visit to Europe and Asia.
A statement released by the state governor’s spokesperson had indicated that Adeleke had embarked on a working vacation to Europe and Asia to solidify partnership deals with investors and development partners.
Contrarily, the Osun APC, through its Chairman Tajudeen Lawal, revealed in a statement signed on Sunday that Governor Adeleke has been on holiday in the United States for the past two weeks. The party claimed the governor’s office statement about his alleged trip was riddled with contradictions aimed at concealing certain information.
Lawal alleged that Adeleke traveled abroad immediately after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) suffered a significant defeat in Kogi State. The party accused the governor of planning excuses to avoid being physically present during the celebration of his one-year administration coming up the following day.
According to the APC, Adeleke’s absence signifies a failure to account for his stewardship to the people of Osun State. The party criticized the governor’s alleged mismanagement of over N130 billion in government revenue and his allocation of over N10 billion for personal expenses while burdening UNIOSUN students with increased school fees.
The Osun APC further accused Adeleke of failing to fulfill promises of development and providing palliatives to the citizens amid economic challenges. The party also criticized the governor’s alleged misappropriation of N9 billion received from the Federal Government and his investment in outdated diesel-propelled vehicles rather than exploring cost-effective transportation solutions like Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses.
Additionally, the APC stated that Adeleke’s absence from the first anniversary of his administration would set a detrimental precedent, marking the first time such an event would occur in the state’s history.
