Renowned British-Nigerian professional boxer, Anthony Joshua, has provided insights into why, even at the age of 34, he still lives with his mum.
It is worth recalling that in 2017, after winning £15 million against Wladimir Klitschko, Anthony Joshua returned to his mother’s two-bedroom former government accommodation.
In a recent interview with Louis Theroux, Joshua discussed the close-knit nature of his family and expressed his reluctance to move away from his mother’s home. He explained that in their cultural upbringing, supporting and living with one’s parents is a norm.
“In our culture, we grew up in our own family home, we support our parents.
“Why am I going to move out and leave my mom by herself, for some girl? Family is the most important thing. When a girl gets with me, she ain’t just marrying me, she is marrying my family” he said
In response to a separate story where actress Eriata Ese criticized Anthony Joshua for being stingy, the boxer had shared a post on his Snapchat, suggesting that excessive material gifts can lead people to fall in love with the giver’s hand rather than their heart. Joshua remarked, “IF YOU GIVE A PERSON 2 MUCH MATERIAL GIFTS SOON THEY FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR HAND, NOT YOUR HEART.”
Eriata Ese contended that Joshua’s comments reflected stinginess and emphasized that individuals should be willing to give generously when they realize that the love they receive is genuine.
