The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has lauded Atiku Abubakar, its 2023 presidential candidate, on his 77th birthday. The PDP praised Atiku as an exemplary and compassionate leader whose unwavering devotion to Nigeria shines through.
Debo Ologunagba, the spokesperson of the PDP, highlighted that the opposition party takes pride in Atiku’s history of serving Nigerians. Ologunagba’s statement emphasized Atiku Abubakar’s humility, kindness, and dedication to the people, portraying him as a principled administrator and a brave statesman committed to Nigeria’s unity, stability, and progress.
The statement also underscored Atiku’s impactful tenure as the Chairman of the National Economic Council during the Obasanjo/Atiku-led PDP administration from 1999 to 2007. It highlighted his instrumental role in driving unprecedented national productivity across sectors, fostering economic growth that positioned Nigeria as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
Acknowledging Atiku’s significant contributions, especially in infrastructural development and job creation during the PDP years, the statement lamented the subversion of his mandates in the 2019 and 2023 Presidential elections. It emphasized how Nigerians recognized Atiku as a unifying figure and a beacon of hope for economic resurgence, evident in their overwhelming support for him.
The PDP portrayed Atiku Abubakar as a leadership model, emphasizing his humility and accessibility, particularly to the youth. It lamented that had his mandates not been subverted, Nigeria would have experienced economic prosperity, substantial infrastructural development, and increased employment opportunities instead of the current challenges and retrogression.
