The Osun State House of Assembly has expressed its dissatisfaction with the slow pace of progress in various road projects across the state. This concern was raised during an inspection of two specific road projects: the Osogbo East By-pass road (stretching from Ona baba Ona to Ilesha Garage-Oke-baale roundabout) and the Ila-Odo road (which connects Osun and Kwara states).
In response to this situation, the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Works and Transport, Waheed Abiola, urged the contractors to maintain an unwavering commitment to quality while striving to meet the agreed-upon project deadlines.
“I commit to ensuring the success of the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration by diligently performing our oversight functions. Governor Ademola Adeleke has put in significant efforts, and we appreciate his swift intervention in addressing the unfinished projects in the State. I also implore the contractors not to hinder the progress of the State.”
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr. Basiru Bello, mentioned that at the current pace of project execution, the State may rid itself of poor roads before the year’s end. He was represented by Engr. Olalekan Salami, the Director of Planning Research and Statistics. Bello encouraged all Osun residents to collaborate with the government by using the roads and drainage systems responsibly.
