The Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, officially appointed Yemi Sanusi, the Ogun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the third Asoju Oba of Egbaland.
The installation ceremony took place at Adire Hall within the Ake Palace and drew the presence of notable figures like the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, former State Governor and APC National Leader, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, immediate past Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji-Ishola, and several traditional rulers.
During the installation, the Alake revealed that Sanusi became the third native of Egbaland to receive the prestigious title of Asoju Oba, an honor reserved for deserving and credible individuals from the region. He highlighted the Egba Traditional Council’s observation of Sanusi’s integrity, hard work, and leadership qualities, leading to the conferment of this significant chieftaincy title.
Praying for Sanusi’s longevity and well-being, Oba Gbadebo encouraged him to utilize his new title to contribute to Egbaland’s socio-cultural development and the broader progress of Ogun State.
Governor Abiodun, speaking at the event, expressed gratitude to the Alake and the Egba Traditional Council for recognizing Sanusi’s worthiness for the Asoju Oba title. He emphasized that the honor bestowed upon the Ogun APC Chairman reflected the esteem held for all party members in the state. Abiodun praised Sanusi as a man of integrity and loyalty, acknowledging his leadership that propelled the Ogun APC to electoral victories at various levels.
While expressing optimism about Sanusi’s ability to discharge his duties with excellence and integrity as the Asoju Oba of Egbaland, Governor Abiodun hailed his qualities of consistency, credibility, and dependability.
In his interaction with journalists after the installation, Sanusi expressed his delight at the honor bestowed upon him by his homeland. He declared his commitment to becoming a symbol of exemplary leadership, vowing to carry out his responsibilities diligently and with the utmost respect as the Asoju Oba of Egbaland.
