The State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akure, Ondo State, is reported to have been locked by state security agencies. On Monday morning, a substantial number of armed security personnel, comprising the state police command and the Directorate of State Security, were stationed at the secretariat’s entrance, with their vehicles parked there.
Due to concerns of potential harassment, party staff refrained from entering the secretariat to begin their work. It has been suggested that the police presence at the location was linked to a planned protest by party youth regarding the absence of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu from the state, with the protest allegedly scheduled for today.
Efforts to contact the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, for comment on the situation were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
