Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has extended his congratulations to Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State for his successful re-election in the Saturday governorship poll. Ganduje conveyed this sentiment through a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Edwin Olofu, in Abuja.
Expressing his joy, Ganduje also commended the significant support shown by the Kogi electorate in electing Ahmed Ododo in the state’s governorship poll. He emphasized that the electoral victories of both Uzodimma and Ododo underscored the widespread acceptance of the APC among Nigerians.
Ganduje highlighted that the triumph of the APC in Imo and Kogi reinforced the citizens’ appreciation for the delivery of democracy dividends by Governor Uzodinma of Imo and the outgoing Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
He reassured the people of Imo and Kogi that Uzodinma and Ododo would continue to pursue developmental initiatives and build on the commendable legacies of their predecessors.
“As a progressive party, we will always live up to our promises to deliver good governance,” Ganduje affirmed. He called on members of opposition political parties to accept their defeat graciously, acknowledging the importance of a vibrant opposition for a healthy democratic process.
Addressing the defeated parties, Ganduje stated, “You are true democrats. The truth is that we are all winners at the end of the day. Without a viable opposition, there won’t be contestations and democracy.” He urged them to collaborate with Uzodinma and the incoming governor of Kogi, Ahmed Ododo, in the collective effort to advance their respective states. Ganduje acknowledged their efforts in the electoral process and encouraged them, noting that there would always be another opportunity to gauge their acceptability among the electorate.
