The Court of Appeal in Abuja has reserved its judgment on Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf’s appeal challenging his removal by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
On September 20, the tribunal declared Abba Yusuf’s election as invalid, citing the invalidation of 165,663 of his votes. The panel’s decision was based on the assertion that the ballot papers lacked the required signature or stamp from the Independent National Electoral Commission. Consequently, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, was declared the victor of the governorship contest.
Dissatisfied with the tribunal’s ruling, Abba Yusuf filed an appeal to contest the tribunal’s verdict and requested the court to overturn the judgment.
